Interstate Projects is pleased to announce its new Writing and Research Residency Program.

Continuing our mission as a non-profit arts organization, Interstate Projects is initiating this program to meet the challenges of creative process and production in the face of real estate and market effects. In line with our Studio Residency Program, this program is being created to give Writers and Researchers space and time to nurture their intellectual pursuits in a supportive environment as well as access to New York's diverse creative communities.

January 15 - February 15, 2017 - Recipients: Bogdan Ablozhnyy & Joseph Lubitz

Panelists for this residency period were:

Heather Guertin is an artist and writer based in Brooklyn. She has had recent solo exhibitions at; Brennan & Griffin, New York; Galería Agustina Ferreyra, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Proyectos Monclova, Mexico City. She has performed in locations such as White Columns in New York and in conjunction with the Carnegie International in Pittsburgh. In 2013 Guertin published a novella titled Model Turned Comedian with Social Malpractice and Publication Studio and in 2015 a monograph of her works was published by Hassla Books.

Nicholas O’Brien is a net-based artist, curator, and writer researching Games, Digital Art, and Network Culture. He currently lives in Brooklyn and is Assistant Professor in 3D Design and Game Development at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Writers and Researchers in ALL fields and at all levels of development are welcome to submit an application to live and work at an apartment adjacent to the gallery space from:
January 15 - February 15, 2017.

Applicants must show a need for dedicated focus on a project that they are already working on.

There will be 2 recipients of this residency at a time and they will be sharing a rent free live/work space for the duration of their residency.

Desk space and internet will be provided as well as private furnished bedrooms, shared kitchen and bath. All other costs of living, materials and all travel, are the responsibility of the recipients.

Applicants will be reviewed by a panel of professionals active and recognized in their fields.

International applicants are welcome to apply but Interstate Projects is not able to assist in visa, sponsorships or other immigration requirements.

At the end of the residency period, recipients will present an informal presentation of the project they are working on during their time at the residency.

SUBMISSION DETAILS

This is an open application and a juried panel of professionals will select 2 applicants for the studio residency. This panel will be revealed at the announcement of each residency.

-Sample of writing or research related to this project (can include images). Not to exceed 3 pages.

All materials must be sent in ONE PDF file labeled Last Name_First Name (ex. Doe_Jane)

All files must be no larger then 10MB.

Failure to submit materials as noted will not be reviewed.
